unable to breathe

HELLO,
I WOULD JUST LIKE TO GET SOME REASONABLE IDEAL ON WHAT HAPPENED TO ME LAST THURSDAY AM,
YOU SEE, I HAD DONE SOME METH A COUPLE DAYS PRIOR, AND I WENT TO BED, WELL I A WOKE  3 HRS LATER AND COULDN'T BREATHE, I TRIED MY NEBULIZER, THAT WASN'T CUTTING IT, SO I WENT QUICKLY TO MY OXYGEN MACHINE, THAT FAILED, I WAS STRUGGING TO BREATHE, I MADE IT TO THE PHONE, CALLED 911, GAVE THEM NAME AND ADDRESS, AND I LOST CONCHINESS, ALL I REMEMBER IS EMT'S IN MY APT, , THEN WHEN I CAME TO 10 HRS LATER I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL, WHICH I WAS RELEASED.
MY NEIGHBORS TOLD ME THAT I WAS WHITE AND LIFELESS AS THE EMTS CARRIED ME OUT.
WELL THIS IS A WAKE UP CALL FOR ME.
ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME ? , ANY REASONABLE IDEAL WOULD BE HELPFULL,  THE DOCTOR NEVER TOLD ME ANYTHING THAT I CAN REMEMBER, THIS  IS A FIRST FOR ME, I NEVER HAVE COLASPED / LOST CONCHINESS EVER IN MY LIFE. I REALIZE  THAT ANYTHING YOU COULD TELL ME MAY OR MAY NOT BE WHAT HAPPED, JUST GIVE ME SOME IDEAL WHAT HAPPENED.
THAK YOU,
MARCY

A possible drug interaction.  Stress.

Anxiety can cause you to feel like you are dying or going to die.

Only your doctor can explain and help allay your fears.

Try posting on the mental health expert forum.  I'm sure the doctor there will have more ideas.

The only thing you really note as being different is the use of meth several days before.

Talk to your doctor.

I APPRECIATE YOUR IMPUT BUT YOU REALLY DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY RESONABLE ANSWER, I WOULD HAVE HOPED FOR IMFO AND POSSIBLE REASONS. I HAD TAKEN MY OTHER MEDS TOO, LIKE ZOKOFT AND TRAMADOL WHEN I WENT TO BED, I'M LOOKING AT ALL CONTRIBUTING FACTORS, ATLEAST ALCOHOL ISN'T A FACTOR, I DON'T DRINK. I THINK AND FEEL THAT IT WAS A WARNING !, OR NOTICE THAT MY TIME HERE ON EARTH IS COMING TO AND END AND I NEED TO GET MY AFFAIRS IN ORDER, ASAP., BECAUSE I'M ON BORROWED TIME, BUT THANK YOU FOR REPLY.

I agree with the nurse.  It could have been an exacerbation of a respiratory illness.  Although if it were that severe wouldn't you have noticed symptoms?

If the reaction had of come sooner after the drug use I would have said it was a drug overdose.
Some people get anxious after taking drugs so perhaps anxiety caused you to hyperventilate, etc triggering your underlying respiratory condition.  ??

You should definitely follow this up with your doctor though.

HI and thanks for using the forum.

As you said, I cannot really tell you what happened that night since I was not there and did not see you.  However, you should have received discharge paperwork from the hospital that tells you what your diagnosis was and gives you discharge instructions.  Also, you could request that your chart from the ER be sent to your doctor so that he or she can review it and explain to you what happened.

Since you have a history of drug use, this episode could have been triggered by drugs.  It seems you must have some sort of respiratory problem since you have a nebulizer and an oxygen tank in your home, so you could have had an exacerbation of a respiratory illness.  Again, it is hard for me to say since I don't have all the info.

Good luck to you.
