Your asthma is probably slowly getting worse because of the second-hand smoke exposure. Have a serious discussion with your parents about quitting for your health (do it with your doctor if needed or another adult to have support)..
You didn't say how old you are, you may need to seriously think about moving out if possible to remove yourself from the toxic environment. I have this same problem with my food allergies, I can't get on top of them because mom refuses to remove wheat from her diet and the cross contamination of knifes, dishes being washed together and crumbs on the dish cloth and counters if constantly getting me sick. I am looking to move out ASAP so I can get a better hold on my health.
good luck and let us know how it goes
Hi there,
You say your parents smoke. There is such a thing as second hand
smoke which could cause asthma. My asthma plan is this.
I have two inhalers. One inhaler I use twice a day, morning and night.
It's called Pulmicort. I've been taking it for years to control my asthma.
I also use another inhaler called Bricanol, which I use as needed.
So , not every day and in limited quantities. Your doctor would advise
you on the amount. I didn't have asthma when I was a child.
My father had asthma and it can be inherited from ones parents, but
the fact that your parents smoke , in my opinion could be a factor.
If you are concerned that your asthma may not be under control to your
satisfaction, I would make an appointment to see your family doctor.
You didn't mention how old you are, so either you make the appointment
or your mom could make the appointment. I wouldn't raise the smoke
issue with your parents at this point. You could ask your family doctor
his or her opinion about second hand smoke. I wish you well. Eve
