I think "voice autism" just means he is verbal and has expressive speech skills. Iven if he has no "autism" diagnosis, as long as he meets criteria for ANY of the 13 categories, he should get services taylored to his needs. period, end of discussion.
4 months is probably somewhere in the 90-day window as required, give or take a week.
I forgot to mention this before. The parents out there may have a more information, but I don't think that you ever have to wait 4 months for testing of any sort. If it is deemed appropriate/necessary, you should be able to start whatever process right away. What reason did they give you for the 4 month wait? and how are they going to test for autism?
by the way... thanks for the google check MJ!
There's Los Angeles Unified School District. Is that it? (I took the term and copied the result off google)
Now that your son is in a preschool class, you should have access to special education teachers, social workers and therapists. My advice to you is learn who these people are and ask questions. Lots of questions. A good question to start with would be "What is voice autism?"
Since your son now has an IEP, the school is required to help him meet those goals regardless of the classroom they place him in. Make sure that you agree that the goals are appropriate and keep track of his progress. It may be that the school is right on in their goals and placement, but it NEVER hurts to double/triple check.
By the way, what does LAUSD stand for?
