Autoimmune Hep.

I'm 60 years old and was just diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis. My liver is "slightly" inflamed and my immune system is attacking my liver.  I'm on 2 , 20 MG pred. once a day for 5 more days then tapering down. I'm also on Imuran. I would like to have a glass of wine but someone said I could never drink wine or any alcohol again. Is this true ?

I was told 14 yrs ago when diagnosed with HepC that I could drink or die...DON'T do it if you want to live. Be kind to yourself and become sober for the rest of your life. Life is short anyway!

I am so sorry to hear this.  I don't know much about this so I did a search on it.  Up at the top of the page there is a magnifying glass icon, I searched for AIH and came up with quite a few posts from other people. I hope this helps you.  I hope you can get some answers.  If I were you I would check first to see if it is safe to drink while on the medications you are taking.  I will try to find more info, Dee
