severe sciatic pain

I had a microdiscectomy in 1996 and had a lumber disc removed, the a few years later another disc was herniated but that went back leaving a lump in my back.
My job entails alot of walking and cycling which is keeping me fit but to stay in work I have to take permanent pain killers about 8 of each,(Solpadol and Tramadol)and Diazapan 25mg at night, and still I have like an electric shock shooting down my leg,my knee I can hardly bend with pain, added with lower back pain, and pins and needles in my feet.
I would like to know are there any alternative treatments apart from taking all these painkillers every day

To Zak_Han.

Hi thanks very much for answering me,I am now trying a new way instead of taking all these painkillers everyday I have not took any for 2 days now and the pain is no worse than it was when taking the tablets,I am going to try and not take any painkillers unless I am in chronic pain, and I will take your advice and I will try this deep and intensive  acupuncture to see if this works for me.

Thanks again for responding to my message,

Hi ,I'm sorry to know your suffering.

From the information given I would say that you  have suffered what is sometimes called a FBSS. The Soft tissue injuries around your lower back spine area which could have been present before the operation.
As I knew,Deep and intensive acupuncture is best solution for this problem (Note:not general acupuncture). Best wishes!
