Is DRX9000 safe for neck pain?

I have been diagnosed with C5/6 disc bulge and degenerated disc with less T2 signals. I have severe neck pain, shoulder pain and headache. I have swelling in my arms and legs.it has been very painful for me for quite a long time. I have undergone physiotherapy - 18 sessions of hot packs, electric stimulation, cold packs, massage etc. Now the doctor has suggested DRX9000 as there is very less improvement. Some of my friends in medical field are saying that DRX9000 is not effective for cervical spine and have to be more careful with the neck and better to suggest a neuro surgeon before going for it. So i needed some advise. Please suggest the best remedy. Thanks.

If you not getting a consensus about surgery from your Surgeons, I would hold off, once its done,it can't be undone and you might get better without it.

As far as the migraines, you could try something specifically for migraines like Imitrex or something like that, they also use gabapentin for migraines, but it has some nasty side effects and can really run you down.

If you only have the one disc bulge, the drx9000 might be okay to try, just make sure that they're perfectly aware of the problems that you have and take your MRI films or report with you.

Thanks...that was quite scary...and sad that you are still suffering from it..hope you get well soon...

today the pain was so bad, I just thought of agreeing for it. Now..... and I also have migrane... but what do I do about it then? I wish there was some way to relieve the pain other than just pain killers.... one doc suggested surgery, but when i consulted the other for second opinion, he said its not required and we will try this out...

Anyways, if you get any tips, please do pass it on to me as well....

Thanks again..

I've never had a  DRX9000 treatment, but I'll tell you about an experience I had with mechanical traction, which is very similar. Five years ago I got a referral to see a Neurosurgeon, I had all your symptoms and more. He referred me to P.T. for several sessions of mechanical traction. The first few seemed to help, then after one session I began having very severe migraines, I mean disabling migraines. At that same session I felt something tear, a real sharp pain in my mid back. That I just lived with because I had so much other pain, I wasn't really focused on it. But the headaches continued, they did begin to lessen after I had surgery.

I later found out that because I had multi-level disc herniations, and one was actually fragmented, that I should have never had traction, I guess I'm lucky I didn't get paralyzed or something. The migraines were caused by one of the fragments moving.

3 months after surgery. my neck pain was lessening, but I still had that sharp nagging pain in my mid-back that happened during that traction session. No one could figure out what it was, the Physical Therapist thought it might be a disc problem in the T-spine, I figured that's all I need. Finally a D.O. I was seeing figured out what it was, when I was having traction, my muscles were so tight and guarded from the pain that it actually tore one of ribs away the vertebra. You know its still bothering me, and its been over 5 years.

The moral of the story is be careful and do your own research this is what I found on it.

DRX9000 indicates several contraindications for treatment including previous back surgery where rods, screws, bolts or wires are used, severe osteoporosis, fracture, tumor and others. This is important, The DRX 9000 C,  is the only FDA cleared cervical decompression machine available.
