Back Pain

Why is it that doctors do not go above and beyond the call of duty?  I went to see a back specialist he looked at my CT scan and report and said that I was not a surgical candidate and ushered me out of his office right away, he knew by looking at me that I was in pain because I could hardly walk, if he was a back specialist why didn't he give me something for my back?  so that I could function until that I could find someone that was willing to help me, instead of make me feel like an idiot, I drove 2 hours to see him, he had my scan and the report for 2 weeks before I went in there, why didn't he call and say you are not a candidate for surgery and I cannot see you instead of making me suffer with the pain for a month.  Is it because of $$$$?

There's a difference between a surgeon and an integrative pain specialist. Surgeons cut. That's what they know. When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Integrative pain specialists may be able to find the nerve(s) that are affecting pain, and treat accordingly.

Some Drs have terrible bedside manner. With pressure to keep Dr visits short & the insurance company's this happens. Most Drs will not give results over the phone. I'm thinking it's unethical. They don't know to whom they're speaking for certain.
He probably didn't give you anything for the pain, because he won't be treating you.  You'll need to find another Dr.  Be careful of opioid pain relief. The forum is full of people getting off medication.
If at all possible try every other possible route.  Pamela
