Back pain after a fall and pain mgmt does NOT want to do more imaging even though last xrays were over a year ago
I fell down the stairs 1 day after my son came home from NICU (i didnt have him in my arms then tho!). I had SEVERE pain afterwards and had xrays that showed weakened bones (from the pregnancy), EXTREMELY weak L5 from the fall, mild arthritis and mild scoliosis.
During this last pregnancy I was referred to Pain MGMT (I had been on Norco and Soma prior to my pregnancy and it did help my pain but the Soma made me have bad side effects) . Pain mgmt however is NOT willing to do further imaging studies to pinpoint my pain. The dr first thought it was SI pain and during my pregnancy the pain was located to my mid/lower right back (it doesn't extend further than the mid spine area) however now that my son has been born (baby #2) the pain is back in the right mid back.
pain mgmt wants to do steriod shots in my spine which I'm fine with, IF They can first pinpoint why I'm in pain. I want an MRI but first must have new xrays. ... ugh. I'm just so frustrated w/the medical system.
I've tried ALL the OTC options for my pain, ICYHOT, heat packs, cold, hot showers, laying different ways w/pillows between my knees and elbows, etc. Currently I take Norco 10/325 1 every 4 hrs. but it BARELY helps.
does anyone have any new suggestions as to what I can do?
Pain mgmt also is pushing NSAIDS and I've tried Ibuprofen as well as aleve and they'd like me to try Voltaren (sp?) jell which is Diclofenac. nothing kills my pain or even gets it to a level I can handle (goal of 3 on the pain scale) I'm sick of hurting and I can't properly care for my 2 boys like I want. this really S*cks.

oh and I've been diagnosed w/serious muscle spasms where my pain is in my back....
