Carpal tunnel or degenerative disc

I have been diagnosed with a denerative disc and arthitis in the lower lumbar section.  This has caused me months of pain, mostly in my leggs from pressure on the nerves. Thanks to a good chiropractor, pain medication and a cooperative othopedic physician, it is currently under control.

Recently I went to see my orthopedic physician for pain in my wrist and fingers, and occasional numbness in my index fingers. Index fingers turn white during these episodes and the numbness/tingling lasts up to 8 hours. My orthopedic physician took xrays of my hands and wrists and found nothing significant; after examining me, he suggested it could be corpal turnnel syndrome.  I was scheduled to take a GNC Nerve conduction but didn't take the test for fear of the pain.  I went to the chiropractor who after listening to my complaints, took xrays of my neck where he found arthritis and degenerative disc in the neck area.  He says the discs are pressing on the nerve and causing the pain in my hands.  It's been three days since I saw the chiropractor, and I haven't had any symptoms except slight strain in my wrists when I bend them too far forward.

I'm confused.  Do I have carpal tunnel syndrom or an additional degenerative disc in my back; now in the neck region?
