Cervical Nerves - Placement

Odd question: Where in the body should cervical nerves go after coming-off the spinal column? Mine have been near the front ofmy neck and also near the back of my neck (by the shoulder) in the same area as the vertebral artery. Please help for I'm very confused and thier current placement seems to be causing problems.

Yes, I've had a c-spine MRI (to check for MS), but after that time a "professional" essentially twisted my neck several times.

Ever since that time, I've had problems and am trying to take care of it myself (long story). Any ideas of the correct location or a possible site showing a diagram?
