HI....many of us have gone yrs with this pain....it is all in listening to ur body and doing things in moderation.....
The visit abroad sounds like a wonderful opportunity, but do check with ur drs to see if it is advisable and see if u can set up a dr there to monitor u in case u have ne changes while there.
Have fun if u do indeed go : )

I highly recommend ativan for this reason. It doesnt help the symptoms as much as making it easier not to stress about them. I was so stressed about every new symptom, sometimes to the point of panick. The doctor explained it to me like this " your autonomous nervous system is on overdrive and the slightest bit of stimulus is sending you over the top" Ask them to let you try it and just see if it doesnt help you deal just a little better. It is so hard to deal with all this, the pain, the unknown day to day symptoms. At least headache is always a constant but there is so much else.
Stay strong and know if you are crazy so are the rest of us. We are all going thru it together.
A of lot times, its not that the Doctors aren't interested, it's just that they really don't know what to say to patients. Can a person live with this type of pain indefinitely? It really depends on the pain and the individual. I took it as long as I could and decided about 5-6 months ago to have another surgery, hopefully it'll help. Searching for answers can definitely wear you out mentally, I've been down that road as well.
A year abroad sounds like a really good idea, I doubt if your pain is in your head, but all the stress you're experiencing can definitely make your pain worse.
Take care of yourself
My next question would be; can u live with this on pain relief and physio???? I'm really getting to the point where i need to back away from the constant fighting for answers for my own sanity. My partner wants to take me abroad for a year to make me rest in an attempt to get better, we've got family out there so it would be easy, I think this would be a good idea. I'm really starting to thin it is in my head. Been put on beta blockers to try and prevent head pain but that's it, neurologist wasn't very supportive she was just pleased that I'm no longer bed bound for days, despite me telling her that I've had to go part time now in order to live a relatively normal life. As full time work was doing that to me. She didn't seem at all interested about the other physical symptoms like electric shocks weakness chest pains and pins n needles in my hands when I get abdominal pain. :-(
Sorry you're not feeling well. Just to reiterate what Selma said, advanced Cervical Stenosis can cause the type of leg problems you're having.
Hi...yes indeed...and I do have a minimal curve to my spine, but considered scoliosis,,,,I have bulging disks and cervical stinosis, in fact my disk bulge is in the area of my stinosis causing a CSF blockage...so many of the chiari symptoms do accompany these issues too.
I have had my legs tighten up that they were hard as rock and hurt like heck....lower back pain ...and I have had weakness....at the beginning of the month I had swelling so bad I could not wear shoes and my legs were weak.
It is hard to do, but u need to find the right dr to guide u as to which area to treat first.
