Horrible back pain at 13.

Hi, im 13 years old and iv'e recently started gymnastics. My back is very sore and whenever i bend my back or try to move it. I have very good posture, but im not convinced that it is a bulging disc because my back isn't very flexible at the moment. I am concerned because im just 13. I am hoping that it will go away because iv'e had it before and after a day or two it goes away. Iv'e always had a problem with my back but previous doctors gave me gels and lotions to soothe it. Now it appears to be a very rare occurance but this time its more painful than ever. Any help or advice on what to do would be much appreciated... Thanks !

I m not specialist, but i think yes u r able to continue with gymnastics, but again careful.Listen to ur body, what sutis u best.Doctors r profesionals nd specialist, but they hv so many patients that they make me think * not interested * in my problem as they should.
Be very careful with exercise, step by step if u hvnt pracitse for certain time of period. We all hv to tend to keep our muscles stronger, otherwise with age everything goes a bit weaker...Prevent everything u can.
from my point of view yoga helps alot, not only pain in back, but general health improvment.
Probably ,if u had water infection it could cause back problem, thats y keep spine straight, breath into ur stomach...( i hv similar probs as u,so it doesnt mean i m right, just hurry up to solve ur prob, cos our spine holds/keeps our whole body).
My pleasure to comment! :)

Best regrads!

Thanks for commenting, that has helped me. Im not over-weight however previous visits to my GP have proved pointless for they informed me that a water infection could be putting pressure on my spine or that my stomach lining is swollen. I used to use Yoga as a relaxation alternative to other things and i used to use it all the time. I completely forgot how much it helped me. Thanks for reminding me! But one more question... am iable to continue my gymnastics ? ..

Write back!

Hi there! U r very young to hv back problems, but ok its not unusual.I had it when i was ur age, because i had scoliosis ( still i got,but hv to live with that). The doctor told me to go to rehab, where exercise will help nd i did go,but wasnt persistent where at that age parents should push u to go if u were lazy :).
So,thats y do exercise,go to the doctor, gels nd lotions r good for soothing, but wont heal.U  r still developing nd growing,at ur age u can make progression nd corrections.START NOW!

Yoga is good for back pain,swimming...If u r overweight, that could cause pain or if ur abdominal muscles r not strong, kidney stones can also cause back pain, trapped nerv( in that case u must rest, till it calms down)... So many things. I m telling u cos i m now 28 nd still hv problems with back, didnt exercise on time. Now i do yoga nd it helps me alot. U  MUST do something, starting now!

All best!!
