I have a pinched nerve

Hi i just had back surgery on the 13th  of august it was a spinal fusion it had it done because i had scoliosis and  i blew a disk in my back so this surgery had to be done. Well my was 8 hours long they had to stop at 7 because they thing they hit a nerve because my left leg wouldn't move couldn't feel it they said but my right could.  So the surgerons stopped for an hour and now im home ive been like three weeks at home and i feel a sharp pain in my upper back like a bee sting sharp pain my mom said she thinks its a pinched nerve and the surgery was bad enough because recoveery time is six months. its hard for me to sleep i get max 6 hours of sleep at night because my back gets stiff and i have to switch to my side where that hurts so its hard t o sleep so my question to you is is thier other options for pinched nerve? besides back surgery i really don't want to go through all this again im almost 19 now please reply asap thanks                        - nate

just be sure you get a correct diagnosis from him before asking for any certain medications...they don't like it much when a patient does that...but if you're doctor does agree thats its nerve pain he will most certainly tell you about gabapentin but just INCASE he doesn't than I would mention it to him and see what he has to say...good luck....let us know how you make out

hi sorry for you're pain...sounds like it could very well be a pinched nerve, having that myself I know how painful that can be.
You need to report this to you're doctor and he can recommend treatment, they aren't likely to recommend surgery for that.
If he feels that pinched nerves are the problem ask him/her abt the medication called gabapentin/neurontin. I have been on this for a few years and it does give some refief to the burning/shooting pain. It doesn't work for everyone though. good luck
