Leg pain

I have had back pain for 3 years and finally went to the doctor.  The pain had traveled down my butt into my lower leg.  I sometimes get the tingling too.  I had a MRI and was diagnosed with a herniated L5.  I started therapy several months ago and I did not get better.  There were days I could not walk or even be on my feet.  I went and had the injection done 2 weeks ago.  I have continued with therapy.   I have decreased my nerve pain however I am left with this leg pain that is still thru my leg.  It feels like I have no flexability when I try to stretch.  My mobility is gone and it hurts so bad to stretch.  My therapist says its ok to strectch now.  Just wondering if anyone has been in this situation and will I get the mobility in my leg back?

Thanks for the advice.  I have actually started to stretch a little on Monday, each day I do a little more along with some basic core strength.  I went to the PT again today and she said to really focus on the strectching no matter how it hurts.  It should be a good hurt and started me with more core strengthing.  I actually feel better.  I have not had much pain into the day and evening hours.  I have not had any pain meds for two days.  It feels so good not to be in pain.  I wish all of you others struggling with this hope.  Have faith in yourself and your body.  I have spent many hours reading all of these messages from everyone and doing a lot of research.  Please focus on the core muscles in your stomach and back, they are what keeps you spine healthy.  I can't stress enough what stretching and strengthing has done for me in just one week.  Thanks to all for advice.
I will keep you all in my prayers to get strong again.

Stretching is the best thing for us, I have too a couple of time a day. Hopefully your P.T. has a cold laser or knows where one is, I think it will help you. Keep in touch.

Thanks for the advice.  I will check at PT tomorrow.   I feel like a lot of my pain is when I am stretching.  Is it possible I lost mobility due to my disk injury.  Is the nerve damaged or just needs to be stretched?  I only get the tingle when I really stretch.  I also feel alot better when I am active, and when I sit for a while, I start to hurt in the lower back.
Thanks Jill

Ask about a cold laser treatment at P.T. it's good for muscle spasm. If they don't have one I would find a P.T. with one, i'm a believer in this machine. Also have you tried spinal decompression or traction at the therapist? Try everythnig possible but you may need a surgeon. When leg pain numbness, tingling doesn't go away it's usually surgery time. I'ts really hard to say about you leg mobility because after surgery you will still have some problems they just wont be as bad. After my surgeries it took quite a while for me to say thats better but it did finally get better.

Hope I Help
