Lumbar Pain (MRI results) please help!

I went for the MRI scan the following in the result,

At L3/L4 and L4/L5 levels, posterior disc bulges indent the thecal sac within mild central and moderate lateral canal stenosis. Bilateral mild exit foraminal stenosis is seen.

There is no significant disc herniation. No neutral compression is demonstrated.

Is the above the reason why i feel constant back pain and sometimes the pain runs down to my leg. After a few session of acupuncture& physio therapy, the pain reduced but not completely eliminated.

My Job requires daily heavy lifting, it it wise that i continue with this job or switch to a different position. I'm only 20 and i do not wish my back to get worse than it should be when i gets older.

Thanks for the time u spend reading the above. I really appreciate it.

Regards,
Xavier

I agree with JGF25-----core exercises!!!  I have had similar issues along with more serious issues due to an accident.  I have gone through decompression therapy (IDD) and have found it very helpful.  However the therapy would have been pointless without strenthening my core muscles.  I suggest seeing a physical therapist to get some basic exercises to start with and then you can move up from there.  There is plenty of info. out there.  Good luck!!!

The pain runs down your leg because the sciatic nerve is being compressed.  It is very annoying I know.  You cannot just point to it and say it hurts right here but boy it hurts.

Anyway, with a back injury like this, the best thing to do is to do exercises to strengthen your core muscles.  For me it is an injury that never goes away obviously.  Once you have it, it stays but there are ways to minimize the pain.  Heavy lifting is not something I would recommend as it exacerbates the problem.  I take advil when needed to reduce the inflammation and pain.
