MRI story

I am an avid runner, and my sports medicine/orthopedic doctor has diagnosed me with sciatica (regular symptoms - pain in the left butt cheek, pain that runs down my left leg and lower back pain).  I took the anti-inflammatories, etc . . . for a while, and the pain subsided (i.e. became more manageable).  I went for an MRI to determine the root cause (e.g. ruptured disc?  herniated disc?).

Well - I had a bit of a panic attack in the MRI machine.  The test was supposed to be for 3 "stages".  One stage was for a constant 10 minutes, and the next 2 stages was to be for a total of 6 minutes.  I was totally fine for the 1st 10 minute stage, but got a severe panic attack in the 2nd, and the technician had to pull me out of the tube.

In summary:  I was able to go back in the machine, but the technician said that I only really needed 3 1/2 minutes of the remaining 6 minutes.  I was able to do that.  Now I am concerned that my doctor will have an incomplete result (as I didn't do the last stage of about 2 1/2 minutes).

Anyone with a common experience?  Waiting until I hear from my doctor (which can take 3 - 5 days) is causing me even more anxiety than the MRI did.

It's terrific that you offer this service of questions to a doctor, However the fee for that was a lil too much for me, and the doctor seemed vague on his answers in the Back and Neck Surgery forum.  Thanks for offering it though..........

The MRI is just a first round of testing you'll go thru hun, Next is the discogram and contrast CT scan which will show more infomation to the Doctor.  Don't let this one test worry you to much okay.  Good luck to you on this test results.......P.S. all that my first MRI (like Yours) showed was lots of inflammation for me, I had to go thru with the contrast ct scan before they found the spinal stenosis and buldging disc.
