hip and leg pain

I had a hard fall off a stool onto concrete I am a 59yr.old woman.
I landed on my right side mainly my hip and leg hit first ,I was purple from my waist to about 4in. above my knee.  The bruise is gone now ,it will be 6 weeks on Monday ,but the pain is still really bad ,it's hard for me to walk ,and it hurts in my groin and buttock area, also down the back of my leg . I have tried everything from ice to heat to vinegar baths.

The dr took exrays and said he didn't think anything was broke to take the pain pills and muscle relaxers and to come back in a week.  I paid 328.00 for that ,as I don't have ins.  Please Help Me

Hi, sorry to hear about your accident.  First of all, my advice would be to be patient a bit longer, as outside bruising will disappear long before our muscles/soft tissue heal internally. What did the doctor xray on you?  Xrays are basically only good to rule out bone breakage.  It sounds like you could of hurt your discs in your back. I say this because you are complaining of groin and butt pain/down the leg as well. What sort of pain are you feeling? Is it dull and achy like a deep bruise or does it feel sharp and debilitating? Do you feel a lot of weakness? All are possible signs of disc degeneration and the fall may have helped them "come alive".
What positionn are you most comfortable in?
Since it has been six weeks since the fall, have tried laying on the heating pad? If it is your muscles, it can be a "mini vacation" for them. It's ok to use the heating pad even if it's your discs (as my doctor has told me).
Good luck, and let me know how it goes.

My grandmother was trying to kill a cricket and ended up falling like you did. She didnt fall as far, I dont think, I believe she was just bending over and fell. Anyways, she went for exrays and they said she was alright too. The docs gave her pain meds and sent her home. Well a couple of days later she was still complaining about severe pain that she could not stand, so she went back to the docs. She got a second opinion and it ended up that she had infact broken her pelvic bone, cracked a rib, and had a compression fracture in her back!! I dont know how the hell the first doctor missed all that but atleast the second one found it. She ended up staying in the hospital for a couple of weeks because due to the fractured rib she was having trouble breathing. (She was a heavy smoker, like 4 packs a day)

Now she is on oxygen 24/7 and she no longer smokes. She is still having trouble walking due to the injuries so she has to use a walker but atleast she can walk somewhat. If they had not found the breaks they would have healed wrong and she may not have been able to walk, who knows.

If I were you, even if you dont have insurance I would get a second opinion. I dont know where you are from, but some clinics and hospitals have a sliding scale for low income and no insurance people. My mother was approved through the hospital for a program they have and they are paying 100 percent of her bills. I also know if you are from the states that usually each county has some type of office like DHS or county relief that will help out with medical bills. It might be worth looking into. Good Luck and keep us posted.
