Revision spinal surgery.

Hi all, this is my first posting on your site but i,m by no means a stranger to back pain!

I had a single level fusion L5/S1, disc removal, decompression and hardware fitted last July after suffering for 3 years with chronic pain and constant slipped discs. I eventually had an appt with the surgeon that did my op yesterday ( I have been waiting 8 months and they cancelled twice and also was over a year since i last saw him) only to find that. It was, in my opinion, bad news. It turns out that there is no fusion at all, one of the screws has moved which is digging into my spinal cord and one of the joints that werefused has cracked.

I still have been in constant, unbearable pain since i had the op done so thought something might have been wrong but not sure if i feel relieved or upset that this is the outcome. I need to have a ct scan, epidural injections, although they never worked eotherkast time and also revision surgery where he is going to fuse the joints above as well.

Just wanted to speak to others that put up with constant pain, being uncomfortable and just downright fed up.
Has anybody else had revision surgery, whats the recovery like as I can,t believe i,ve got to go. Through all this again.

Skip the epidural injections! Look up arachnoiditis.

I just had a revision L4-L5 3 wks ago. back doesn't hurt except at incision site, it feels like something is stabbing me from the inside. It is probably the rod or screw that I feel/ Other than that I feel great, still to early to tell though.
