I had whiplash in 2006 and in 2007 I had an MRI with the following: 1) Reversal of cervical lordosis and 2) Disc bulging with oesteophytic spurring at C3-4 with bilateral foraminal narrowing.
At C3-4, there is loss of disc height. There is 3 mm disc bulging with osteophytic spurring with compression of the ventral dural sac and slight cord flattening. The midline canal diameter is adequate. There is moderate foraminal narrowing bilaterally due to oesteophytic spurring.
Since the accident I have had moderate to severe neck pain. I can't do things for long periods of time like look down such as working on a puzzle. I periodically get a sharp pain across the back of my neck that takes my breath away, makes me dizzy and sometimes I feel like l will pass out.
I have gone to a chiropractor, had physical therapy, and take medication such as muscle relaxers, but it all really never makes the pain and stiffness go away. Well during the past couple of weeks it has gotten a whole lot worse. I can't turn or bend my neck a certain way. Also, I get that sharp pain across the back off my neck and it's getting worse. Can anyone explain what that is? And what I should do?
They told me that once you get whiplash you can get it again at the "drop of a hat".
That's why, if you're ever in an accident, one of the first questions they ask is if you've ever had whiplash...it's to protect the person that has caused your "new injuries" so that you can't sue them for whiplash...because it's just that easy to get again once you've had it.
So...you could have moved the wrong way and gotten it all over again, or it could be something new...ask your doctor for some xrays to put your mind at ease, and to ensure that it isn't something worse.
