Thumb Pain

I was diagnosed wtih C5-6 Broad-based central disc protrusion effaces the central thecal sac and impinges upon the central cord. Neural foramina remain patent. I have an extreme pain in my left thumb which has been getting worse over the last seven years. It now it so soar that I cannot touch the outer left area with severe pain.  No one seems to know why and what to do?  I also have a ripped rotator cup which I will have surgery for that.  Recently, I have had my leg go completely numb for several days where they ran some tests and did not come to any conclusion. Any thoughts would help.  I have gone through some physcial therepy for my back and thumb probelm but it did not seem to do much.

No I don't want to go that route. I did try massage and traction for awhile, but I don't want to keep doing that forever
