Whiplash injurty

Hi,  I gave myself a whiplash injury waterskiing.  At the time I did nothing however 3 months later started having long term dizzy/unsteadiness spells.  These continue to come and go and also create muscle spasms.  They are so severe they are causing me to wake in the night and I feel nauseous most of the time.  A chiropractor seems to be the only person who can alleviate the unsteadiness however it is usually only temporary.  Any suggestions?   Please

Had CT and Xrays.  It is typical of a whiplash injury plus I have one of the discs in my neck is degenerating however that has no bearing on my unstable ness.  A lot has to do with muscle spasms that occassionally occur - usually when I am stressed. I would like a preventative measure.  GP seems to think a nerve has been damaged in the process which also gets triggered with the muscle spasms.

What tests have been run?  Have you had an MRI or CT scan of your neck to see if there is anything going on there?  Is there a diagnosis that the chiropractor is using to do the treatment?  If not, it seems to me that you cannot truly "fix" something if you don't really know what is wrong.  And since you are waking up in pain, then what he/she is doing isn't getting to the root cause of the problem.

Take care.
