Hey. It's been a while I been on here but it wasent my time I guess. I'm going on day 4 clean and I'm hoping to keep on going. I got a big problem with sciatica. That's what first got me on the pills but my brother had this problem also and he would take lyrica and it use to do the trick for him. I know everybody's body works differently but just giving you a little info on maybe something you can try if you haven't already.
Sorry to hear about your pain. I can truly relate. LadyWolf69 mentioned a TENS unit. I purchased a portable one called Aurawave and it was under $100. The thing that helped me most is the Egoscue Method. I bought the Health Through Motion book to familiarize myself with the exercises. I also live near one of the clinics so I can get the exercise menu tailored for me. I was cautioned against chiropractic for my extruded disc and sciatica, as it could worsen my condition. I am 8 and one-half months post-injury and while I still have some sciatic pain, my day-to-day functioning is much improved. Good luck!
Congrats on your 5 month anniversary!!! I know that overcoming a narcotic addiction is pure hell, been there, done that. I have chronic back problems also, including sciatica on both sides. You may want to talk to your doctor about low back exercises & physical therapy, if you haven't already. I am currently taking Tramadol as needed, Flexeril & ibuprofen. Be careful with Tramadol as it is a synthetic opiate derivative, although it's not classified as a narcotic. I only take mine when I have severe pain. A TENS unit is a god send, but unless you have really good insurance, very expensive. If you do have good ins. I would highly recommend getting one. Good luck!
