having surgery tomorow

I am haveing cervical disc replacment surgery tomorow morning.  I am only 30  years of age, i am hoping that this is eliviate my pain in my neck.  C5-C6 is being replaced with a donor disc.  The surgoen will be going through the front of my neck.  Is there alot of pain after the surgery?  Also how long about to recover?

I had that surgery at C3-4 10 years ago.  My scar is hardly noticeable anymore.  There was not a lot of pain after my surgery.  I had to stay one night at the hospital and stay off work for about 3 weeks.  Good luck!

Sorry to hear you are going through this at such a young age. My mother had this done about ten years ago and it is holding up very well, and all of her neck problems were solved with the surgery. I remember her cutting her hair very short so she wouldnt have to deal with it as much. But she recovered from surgery very quickly, an had to restrain from doing too much because her neck pain was so much better. You will hopefully get past your surgery and forget all about  the couple days after the surgery, hopefully!   Good luck, keep us posted on your recovery when you can get back on the computer.
