L5S1 discectomy 5 days ago

I am 5 days since a micro discectomy at L5S1.  The sciatic pain is gone but the numbness and tingling is growing over most of my foot.  I've heard to expect some numbness but for it to grow?  I'm afraid to do the wrong things around the house while I recuperate as well as I am not doped up.  Being alert makes me very bored.

Don't start worrying yet.  I had l5-s1 discectomy 1/06 and at the 8 week mark it seemed like I was cured overnight.  Give it time..   Take care of your back though.  I just had l5-s1 fushion 13 days ago. I am having some problems so try to avoid that route later.  Hopefully time will staighten me out again this time.  Good luck!!!

L5/S1 Discectomy done Last February 26th, 2007.  It cured all sciatica but I was left with much worse back pain.  It has been almost a year and it feels like I just had surgery last week.  Have done the PT thing, seen the neurosurgeon several times, spine clinic, the works and I am still hoping for some kind of miracle cure.  I really didn't have the option of having surgery or not because of the size of the herniation.

I was considering this operation 1 1/2 years ago.  Just had 2 shots and ow going for 3rd as most recent MRI showed herniation worsened.  Had 4 shots in 2006.  Now seiously considering operation as can't tolerate anymore and need to work,  Just wanted to know how you are now feeling?  I hope better!  Thanks in advance for any response.
Sincerely,
Sam
