should i have spinal fusion

i originally had a work related accident when i was 22. this resulted in severe back and leg pain for over 5 years. i gave up my job which was very physically demanding job and went to university for 4 years. in the second year my pain went by itself and i resumed normal life. about 4 years agon my back pain returned and has worsened gradually.
i had an idet done 12 months ago which hasnet worked. im on difene and kapake daily and now also on stomack tablests as the medication has affected my stomack. vicious cycle.im currently working but have to rest after work and at weekends so quality of life is not what it should be. ive had physiotherary and triend oestopathy and chiropractor all to no avail. i have been advised by a specialist to have a spinal fusion. should i have this procedure has anyone had it done and never looked back or has the procedure made them worse or no better. comments appreciated.

if you have tried this time the injections (epidural, spinal block or facet joint) and they have not helped and pohysical thereapy is not working you may have to consider it, I also am in the same place but i have tried all the above and have dealt with this for 2 1/2 years only to be worse or the same, but surgery should be done when all else fails... please get a second oppionion...
let me know what you decide,,,
god bless you...
