tingling and tightness

I had a back injury about 30 years ago where I was doing a double back flip and landed on my head with my head arching back.  I was on my back to a couple days and couldn't move.  The pain was below the neck in the thoractic region. I have experienced pain and discomfort in my shoulder blades since then, but it has gotten much worse now.  It's gotten to the point that I don't live pain free. I have bad days and worse days.  I also get tingling around the shoulder blades and some tingling down my arm.  The muscles in this area seem to always be stiff.

The last 5 years I started having sharp pains in my right lower rib.  I had done a lot of running before this and think it may have been from that.  Now it's always in pain and I have tingling running from the back of my lower rib cage to the front.  It's getting quite bad.

My family doctor about 5 years ago has ruled out a kidney problem.  Although there was a small cist found from a MRI.

I think it has to do with my spine, but chiropracters, all kinds of doctors have not been able to find out what to do.

My family doctor basically tells me that I'll have to live with it.

I've never been a whiner, but I find it hard to believe that the discomfort I am experiencing cannot be treated.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Mike

From the information given I would say that you  has suffered what is sometimes called a soft tissue  injury to the cervical spine which can lead to tingling and tightness .  The long term injury though could aggravate and bring about more symptoms from this pre-existing problem. Deep tissue massage or intensive acupuncture can help.Good luck!
