Am I Bipolar?

I lwas diagnosed as AADD around 4 years ago.  My first doctor implied that I may be bipolar.  I changed doctors.  I am currently on my third doctor and he has said the same thing.  I have been off and on Lithium with adderall xr for about 6 months.  Currently I am on 1500 mg of lithium and 20mg of adderall xr a day.  I feel floaty or high on the lithium until the adderall focus boom hits.  I hate the floaty feeling.

My doctors diagnosis is based upon this:  I told him that I probably have, on most days, up to 4 thoughts that make me feel as though I can do anything and no one can stop me.  Mostly things like a new career, or a business idea.  These thoughts are short lived, about 1-2 hours.  Some last longer or less.  I have had these thoughts for years.  I also want to mention that I can get the same euphoric feeling from hearing music that I like.  I geuss it changes my mood.  Prior and during all of this I have researched my personality alot.  My preference is Meyers- Briggs.  I am either an ENFP or an INFP.

Question:  Does this type of thinking lend itself to a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder?  And secondly, is there any known relationship of personality types and Bipolar.

In case anyone was wondering, I grew up in an okay household.  Always loved, no divorce, queenbee mother, intelligent quiet father, overweight (now gay) brother, brought up around the really wealthy when I was not even close.  I graduated college in 1994 for rest/ hotel mgt., and have had at least 1 career started and 6 jobs.  My lack of current real job status is putting stress on marriage.

Please, any advice or further questions about myself to help provide advice, is greatly appreciated.

In reference to the personality type and any correlation between type and bipolar I think it is safe to say that bipolars come in many types and just because you have a certain personality type does not make you at risk for bipolar.- ENTJ

Hey there!  Are you seeing a PCP or a Psychiatrist?  That can make a huge difference.  I was diagnosed first depressed by my PCP and he did not pick up on my, at the time, hypomanic side.  Then after being off and on anti-depressents for several years, that big ol' manic state came to the surface and I was correctly diagnosed by a Psychatrist.  Also, have they done a bipolar evaluation on you yet?  It is a series of tests and questions to determine if you are or are not BP.  Have you read anything about it?  I recommend three great sites you can check out.  www.nami.org, www.bipolarhelpcenter.com and www.moodswing.org   Those are good places to get some great info.  Also, a person can show BP signs when their Thyroid is out of wack.  Have they checked you for that?  When I was diagnosed and started educating myself about BP I read the signs and symptoms and felt like I finally know what I have battled all this time and can find a solution for it.  So, perhaps you can do some reading too and be able to do some self-evaluating in order to gain insight on what is going on.  I hope this helps.  I have tons of knowledge about BP along with a lot of other people on here, so feel free to ask any questions you need answered!  Take care.
