Am I schizophrenic or am I Bipolar?

I was diagnosed by my GP in 2004 with Bipolar Disorder after several years of drug use. I currently have abstained from drug use since then.  Recently in 2008 I had an incident which landed me in the psych ward and the doctor there has put me on a PTO (Sectioned me) under bipolar disorder but has further diagnosed me with with a psychotic illness schizophrenia.
I had a look at the symptoms for schizophrenia and they were too acute I have never experienced these symptoms, like hearing voices, wanting to commit suicide, hallucinations etc.

I have recently 2007 developed a problem with anxiety and paranoia but he wants to remit me as schizophrenic.

Get a second opinion, you are entitled to a second opinion.

But I suppose maybe just treat the symptoms as well, if you need anti spychotics take them and i do not really understand how the two are differentiated.  Bipolar with psychosis surely looks like schizophrenia, but maybe the schizophrenic wouldnt have the changes in mood? They wouldnt have a month of depression followed by a high?

I dont know because in schizophrenia you appear depressed and slowly (or quickly sometimes) you get worse and worse more withdrawn and then psychotic?  Did you have an 'up mood' with euphoria at all??

They tried to ask me the same question do you feel manic or depressed. And I answered incorrectly, because I wasn't depressed at all because I study I said I feel manic.

On the other hand I couldn't say that was really manic or that I have an up mood, I dont get them and thats probably a main reason.  I moved to a new state to study so I have no friends or family here.  Nor do I feel euphoric. I'm a bit dull now wiith my medication but less anxious,

Thank you for your reply its been most helpful.
