Bipolar disorder - Lamictal side effects or wrong medication ?

I Have bipolar disorder with anxiety . I m an artist so I don't want to feel emotionally numb . So my doctor suggested Lamictal . I m on week 3 my dose is 50 mg for the day . And I m experiencing a feeling of being drunk . Sleepiness and less alertness with slightly blurred vision and  mild loss of co ordination. Is it normal side effects and will it go away or should I change medications ? Please help . Thanks

My story is that when I used to wake up in the morning, my brain was all fogged up, I could not concentrate well and remember things. It was horrible. I went to a psychiatrist that I really trust her. We have a great relationship. I saw her yesterday which was on 10/15/2015. I was taking 25mg or seroquel which I cut in half 12.5mg. And she told me to go to Walgreens pharmacy and for me to get there Valerian Root 450mg with Passion Flower. It made me sleep great and when I woke up in the morning I felt great.
