I'm on a mixture of Depakote, Lamictal, Geodon and Cymbalta. I can't believe that with all that medicine that nothing is pulling me totally out of this depression. My doctor keeps increasing my meds, first one, then the other, and that hasn't done anything either. Lithium was wonderful for me, but it brought on kidney problems, so I had to go off it.
I did not stay on it that long, I had an allergic reaction from it. I am Risperdal now. I haven't taken it in awhile because of the weight gain. The doctor increased my Effexor XR from 150 mg per day to 300 mg. and then added Celexa to it. I am feeling better. I had a bad Bipolar episode in Sept.-Oct. and was depressed, seriously depressed until we found a good cocktail mix in February. I have finally pulled myself out of the dark pit of depression. He, the p-doc, was changing my meds every 2 wks. until we got lucky with this mixture.
I have heard alot of people have had success with Lamictal; did it not help you? Lithium helped me for awhile but had to get off it because I had Hepititus in past.
How did the clozapine work for you? I'm just looking for something other than what I'm taking now that might work. I'm definitely not considering ECT at this point. It does scare me, and besides, I don't have any insurance for that type of treatment.
No, I have taken clozapinen but never verpamil. I think Verpamil is to help with drug resistance? Please do not think this is your last resort, I have been on alot more drugs in the past and combinations of drugs before I find something helpful..
What do you mean, last resort before you go for ECT? Personally, I think I would keep on trying the drugs and combinations before I resorted to ECT, but, that would be your choice. Perhaps someone on this thread can advise their eperience with ECT.
I gues I have a fear of ECT as I remember being a child and my Dad came home fron the hospital after undergoing shock treatments. Of course ECT are not near as brutal as the shock treatments back in the 50's.
