I Think Chantrix threw me into a bi polar spin

I have been bi polar all my life... DX since I was 16... I have been off my meds for the last 4 or 5 years and have been coping.

well I also have MS and I got Pnemmeonia so the doc wanted me to stop smoking...so he put me on chantrix.... long story short here it is 4 months later and I can't get ahold of my moods... I am on 200 MGs of topamax 100 mgof clonopin for the anxiety anantydprsent (*can't remeber the name and I am not home to look at the bottle)

ps please excuse the speeling it's the topamax I feel like a freaking idiot!!!

My question is can a drug like chantrix throw you back into bipolarism????
I seemed to be doing so well

Now everything is going all topsy tuvy again!

Chantix isn't supposed to be given to anyone with previous psych. issues. A friend of mine didn't disclose this to her new GP. After a month of taking the Chantix, she ended up in hospital for 2 weeks, highly suicidal and having swings. She refuses to acknowledge that she has BP though and blames it solely on the Chantix. This drug should be taken off the market

well once bi polar always bi polar.I thought about taking chantix when I wanted to quit smoking but the side effects made me decide chantix was a nono for bi polar me.
So I decided to get hypnotized instead and that has worked quite nicely.

Yes chantix can do that. Try doing what you did before you got back on your head meds.Eat healthy, exercise,NO caffiene or sugar as these both aggravate bi polar.
Reg sleep pattern is important too.Meds and therapy. Therapy wil give you the tools you need to get through this manic phasw.
Remember this will pass. Take it one day at a time and come here to post.We understand what you are going through.
