Is Lexapro effective for bi-polar disorder and panic attacks/anxiety? Also does it help with fibromyligia pain? Is it the one with the least side affects?

I love lexapro. It has made all the difference in my anxity and mood.I take 10 mg in the daytime.Should take 20mg but am afraid to up the dosage because I feel pretty good now. What dose are you taking? I take xanax if I go through something that causes me to feel anxious.

I was treated for depression only for years before being diagnosed with bipolar.  Nothing worked and the one's that did only worked for a short time and stopped or had bad side effects.  My current psychiatrist of 2 1/2 years put me on Depekote a mood stabalizer and Lexepro and they both work great on me.  Lexapro has been terrific with me and i have the more low ends of bipolor the more suicidal side of things.  i have not been suicidal once since i have been on it.  i take one at night and one in the morning!  love it.

Yes, Lexapro is effective for the depression in bipolar and is an anti-anxiety med, too.  Don't know of any reason it would help with fibromyalgia.  Least side effects?  I had some problems with it and had to quit taking it, but right now I can't remember what it was.  My drs have always gone back to Celexa for the least amount of side effects.  It also contains an anti-anxiety.
