Hi Roger. My girlfriends tremors get worse when she has to up her dose. There is another med my Pdoc told me about,I forget the name to counteract it. Hers get so bad that her lip starts twitching though. Her daughter was getting married,so she took the other med to be tremor & twitch free. Then went off of it, cause it caused weight gain. Always something. Huh? Pdoc waited many yrs before this yr putting me on Lithium. I had severe side effect, so went back to my regular mood stabilizer Seraquell. I'm tapering off Norco right now so he doubled the Seraquell (200 mg taken nightly & I take Zoneisimide nightly. Right now I'm on the low end of feeling stable. I am recovering from a Black mania that had me whacked out earlier this yr. best of health to you. Pamela
I had a little trimmers, but it was totally gone in a month. I slowly titrated my dose though, so I had side effects longer, but not too severe. My vision was off, stomach upset, slight tremors, low energy, but my mind turned around pretty fast. It took my body more time to get used to it though. I went from 300mg to 600mg to 900mg, my blood serum is at about .6 now, so I am gonna stay here for awhile and 'feel' it out.
Hey Roger, I have taken Lithium for several yrs. My tremors took several months to go away and they were not that bad. After that period of time the tremors went away completely. Lithium is a good drug for me. I hope it works out for you.
Roger. How are your side effects? Did Pdoc need to adjust dosage?
I'm still on 300mg lithium in addition to my other meds. nothing new to report.
I'm on Lithium Carbonate (slow release) 450mg morning and night I get no side effect's i'm aware of . With the Seroquel i take also, this combination is working wonder's for me lately.
Cogentin (Benztrop) help's with movement disorder's . I had bad trouble's with with shaky leg's and figity when i was on Respirodone and had to take it .I'm not sure if you can take it with Lithium you would have to ask your doc .
When I was younger, I was placed on Lithium and could not STAND the tremors, nausea, and detached feelings I got from it. They considered me intolerant and placed me on Divalproex which has worked wonders!
Has your Pdoc ever suggested Divalproex? How bad are your tremors? Do you have other symptoms? How are your tremors now?
Hope that things even out for you, meds are definitely NOT a one size fits all deal but, just wanted to share my experience. TAKE CARE!!!! =D
My doc has mentioned depakote as a possibility but it has never gone further. My tremors come and go. At times it's hard to write my name. I worry that I will have trouble starting IV's (I'm a nurse). But like I said, they come and go. I've noticed that I touch my teeth together too. I don't grind them but I just barely touch them together. I know that just started with the lithium. It's not really a problem and I hope it won't become one.
Hey,
I understand what you are going through. I was shaking so bad and still have small tremors but I am also on Gabapentin which helps.
I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse and used to twiching, resistant and seizuring patients :) It is worrysome when you doubt yourself though :(
Have the conversation with your Pdoc about Depakote, it worked wonders with me and rounded out my nicely sized regimens of medications...that keep me somewhat sane!
I have a chewing response as well but, nothing like my mom and sisters who grind. I hope you find the proper and harmonious blend of meds to minimize your negative effects and maximize your happiness and confidence! I am always here if you need me!
