agree with left coastchick, therapy is best with meds. hope you have a good pdoc. might take time to find right combo of meds (have had no luck myself yet but am continuing to try new ones as i want my life back!) hope things pick up for you. cbt is good but in my experience, not on its own.
First question, are you on meds? Second, are you seeing a psychiatrist? Thirdly, have you been diagnosed BP in any form?
BP is a disorder that cannot be handled by Talk Therapy or CBT alone, but it's extremely important to have some therapy alongside meds. I"m doing a new model of CBT and I am benefitting for it greatly. I can, when having to handle tough situations, use the info I have to alter how I react to things.( I am on medications)
Underlying depression, really can't be handled alone with a therapist. The statistics for BP folks without medical treatment is grim, and the chances of relapse is greater. See your doctor and/or pdoc.
If you are having active even passive thoughts of suicide you must get immediate help.
