Recently diagnosed and major hair loss

I started lamectal about 2 months ago and take abilify and trazadone as well.  I have lost my hair significantly in the past 2 months.  I take Lamectal twise a day 150 mg.  Abilify 15 mg & 50 mg of trazadone.  I also take 1mg of klonipin as needed.  Could any of these be causing it - a combination?  Any suggestions?  Depression will never go away if I am bald.  Please help.  I would like to discontinue the one that is causing this.  Have been on anti-depressants for years but no problems like this.  THanks!

Kelp would help with hair loss if the problem is due to the thyroid. Since thyroid problems can cause symptoms that mimic aspects of bipolar disorder, thyroid testing is performed before diagnosing bipolar disorder.

I take Abilify and didn't experience any unusual hair loss yet (just normal hair fall) and I've been taking it for months.  Sorry to hear you had such a reaction to it.

I'm in the same boat.  Ever since I've started taking Abilify...my hair has been falling out in clumps daily.   I hate this because I feel this is the best bp med for me.
I've tried Depakote..that was a nightmare and so was lamictal.
I'm thinking of trying ketamine. I need to do more research though.
Best of luck to you.

Oh, also, I hears Kelp helps with hair loss. I don't know for sure that's just what a hairdresser told me. Let us know what your dr. said.

Hi Stacey. It could be the medicine. I used to take Lithium, Depakote, and Risperdol and it made my hair come out. So I would talk to your doctor because it probably is the medicine. Your doctor will be able to tell.

Namaste,

I cannot find any evidence in my research that any of these medications will cause hair loss, although I could not find definative evidence that in combination they could not cause such a reaction.

I however, feel that there is another at issue here and that you need to speak with your healthcare provider to determine the cause of your problems, since I don't think it's the medications you are taking.

I wish you the best of luck!
