Thanks, did see an optomotrist a week or so ago and my prescription has changed. He advised that with the Topamax it may change again, so to wait to get new spec/contacts until the dosage has remained constant for a while or until my eyes have stabalized.
Surprisingly, my nearsightness, has improved while my reading vision has deteriorated.
(that could be old age...as we know most things deteriorate with age with some exceptions) however, I'm certain I'm not one of the exceptions.
Thanks for your advice.
The general interactions with Topomax involve weight loss and stomach upset. I couldn't tolerate it for that reason. I have not heard of any vision loss from it but when you said you "haven't seen an eye doctor for two years", in reference to that I would strongly suggest you do obtain an consult to an opthalmologist. It may very well have nothing to do with medications. But there are many causes of vision loss that need to be looked into and are treatable if caught early. You might be looking for unusual effects of medications you may not be experiencing but you should have a standard visit to an opthamologist to check for cataracts and glaucoma and the like which are more common as people age although they have nothing to do with those specific medications. They can be ruled out and if found treated. And if its just general vision loss they can adjust the prescription for your glasses. You are concerned but may be looking for the wrong cause.
