Zyprexa and askasthia

I started taking Zyprexa about 2 weeks ago and since then I have askasthia, which is the worst possible effect I have ever had.  I can't sit still, I pace a lot, I am so tired and my eyes want to shut but the rest of my body cannot sit still.
I have confronted the pshychiatrist 2 and both times he left me with it and first he gave me a drug that is supposed to help with askasthia, cogentin.  Still didn't work.  Talked to him again and now he gave me ativan instead of just changing zyprexa.

Has anyone expreienced askasthia and continued to take the medicne and have it go away?

I have akathisia from Abilify. To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.

It wasn't nearly as bad as you describe, but if I remember correctly it took about 3 weeks for the askasthia to go away when I started Abilify. If you haven't exhausted all other atypicals and it is over the 3 week mark, I would strongly insist on trying another antipsychotic.

Ziprexa was a wonder drug for my brain. It was so quiet. Like a beautiful sandy beach. Unfortunately it didn't like my cholesterol. Spiked my triglicerides off the charts on a fairly low dose.

I hope the askasthia goes away soon. It is a horrible symptom.
