Zeldox

So I am about to transition from 300 mg of seroquel to zeldox, which is supposed to help me get back to the weight i was before seroquel, Or I guess just not contribute to more weight gain. I'm also in the process of weening off of effexor. Has anyone had a good experience on Zeldox after Seroquel, because what I've read so far has been a little freaky.

i take 80 mg of zeldox 2 times a day. i have these episodes where i am so tired it feels like i am about to fall asleep. it's like when you're driving a car and can't stay awake. does anyone else get this? they are much better now, but still scary.

Nah I've never took antidepressants before since I don't have something major enough that could be considered a mood disorder, antipsychotics made my sorrow that happens randomly several times a day go away so I didn't need one for it anyway.  I however have a psychotic disorder but everyone except one except one person on my father's side of the family has bipolar disorder.  I was taking the highest recommended dose in one taking, for lack of a better word, however rather than spread out over two takes a day, that is probably why I had chest pains on it because it happened soon after my dose was increased to that.  I also was told if you take asthma inhalers (I used to have asthma but outgrew it) it affects your heart or some crap which I suspect might of gave me a predisposition for this but not sure.  I was told that by someone and found some articles on it but not sure if it causes permanent changes or not.

Were you still on an anti depressant with the Zeldox? You see Zeldox, and Abilify have just become available in Canada so it seems our psychiatrists are not as aware of actual side affects  because when I went to go get my prescription filled a red flag came up in the system telling the pharmacist she couldn't allow me to take both effexor, and zeldox at the same time.  Very frustrating.... I know I should be happy just being level, but I'm just so frustrated with the weight gain I'm willing to try other alternatives.

I had an overall good experience but it didn't fix everything but I think that's normal and I even lost a little bit of weight on it.  Didn't even gain weight on the highest recommended daily dose being taken in one go once a day.  I had to stop it however due to a kind of chest pains I never had before taking it.  Also had some cognitive blunting and memory problems on it and when I was adjusting to it it had a tendency to make me feel either extremely drunk where it's difficult to move or stoned.  My uncle is taking it and asked me how the hell I went to work while under the hard to move side effect.  I would recommend it because not everyone will have the chest pains problem and everyone reacts differently to each medication but pay close attention to it.

My experience with it was not that great because it was activating as opposed to sedating though for some people that is not a problem. From what I remember I had to get an EEG before taking it to rule out any concerns regarding that. Abilify was similar in that it was activating (as are Fanapt and Saphris as well all 3 are less likely to cause weight gain) but I believe Zeldox is the one with that specific cardiac concern (which can be monitored for) but you could ask your psychiatrist more about that. I believe if activation (which is not the same as mania, it just means it can cause insomnia) becomes a problem you can take the dose earlier in the day but every person responds differently to each medication. I know myself I responded best to Risperdal and Seroquel but some people here have done quite well on Zeldox so everyone differs as regards side effects and response rates for every medication. For more information about any medication go to the medication website or ask your pharmacist for a hand out on it and of course speak to your psychiatrist.
