ect treatments

I had ECT treatments 6 years ago( total of 9 treatments).  I have developed neurological problems over the past few monthes.  Including part. seizures.  Things seem to be progressing.  Does anybody know first hand if the treatments and the problems 6 years later are conected?

I had many ECT for bi-polar and have the long term memory problems.  I actually had to request to stop treatments because my dr. had no intention to stop.  Before I went through treatments I had been on many meds, including a seizure medication which they stopped.  I never went back on and had many seizures leading up to a grand-mal in February.  I am back on the anti-seizure med and feel wonderful.  I am not happy about having gone through ECT.  I don't believe anyone can prepare you to loose memories (my son being born, my wedding - I had to actually ask my husband when our anniversary is, previous jobs homes) and of course I didn't loose my "bad" memories.
Check to see what meds you were on before ECT and also what meds you are on now.  Neurological problems can be a byproduct of psych med side-effects.

Well ECT can cause long term memory loss and cognitive confusion but I have not heard of it causing any progressive neurological disorder involving seizures. Best to see a neurologist for follow up and you could also post in the neurology forum for a more informed answer from the staff neurologist.
