I really like that, "you are just a normal person with mental illness" that is so very true, perhaps someday the rest of the world will realize this. Thank you for sharing that, I will pass it along.
I have something to supplement Alex_X_18's post. Someone told me once "you're just a normal person with mental illness" which is actually pretty true although I view normal as an individual thing and not a global condition.
Everyone who posted above is absoultly correct
bipolar is a disorder
is it serious, yes
is it a part of your life, of course it is
but does it make who you are,....no it does not.
My advise is not to see yourself as any less than any other person who is normal
if you do it will reflect on you in things like the way you carry yourself and how you interact with others.....this may impact how others treat you or even the way you treat yourself in certain situations this is why you should take pride in who you are and what you do
in the end in does not truely matter to a full extent what others think.....
people may think the world of you but you'll never believe or accept that as long as you
carry yourself around with doubt and no self assurece
remember to love YOURSELF first once you do that the love and respect of others is sure to follow naturally
Your illness doesn't really make you who you are. It's just a part of you is all.
Hey, I'm bipolar and I like to think I'm still a good person that just happens to have a disease named bipolar, it could have been diabetes, heart disease, polio, scarlet fever. It's just a disease we learn to live with and wilth the additional of medication and learning skills and how to recognize what brings on your sysmptoms, I can live a productive life with a job, family and friends just like everyone else. Yes, I have breakthrough times when even with my meds I will have an episode breakthrough but I am learning to recoginize when symptoms are coming on and take additonal mood stabilzer to nip it in the bud. It's just something that I have to live with and I try to make the most out of what I have. Luv, Jude.
I just replied to your other post, but to address this issue as well:
Because you're a lovable person. You're most likely interesting, bright, engaging. Perhaps empathetic. I don't know you at all, but I can bet you anything that you have a host of positive personality traits. Don't let bipolar disorder define you. The people who matter will weather the storms with you because they appreciate who YOU are.
