other meds beside the three that were recommended

I am bi-polar with severe PTSD.  Recently, I was give Lamictal, and had terrible side effects.  Then he tried Abilify, with the same results.   Now he is talking about (He=doctor) depakote.  I am afraid to take this med because I also have hep c, and read where it is exceptionally hard on the liver.  What else do they recommend for bi-polar disorder?  I have only been diagnosed a year ago, after 35 years of being misdiagnosed with severe depression.  I want to get well, but don't do very well with meds, have a lot of negative side effects.

Any help would be appreciated,   kenneltech

No problem!  I too was diagnosed last year in January.  I did as much research as I could in order to control it!  It can get nasty.  I figure the more knowledge I have the better.

Thanks so much for the response.  I was just diagnosed last year, and didn't quite know where to research, but I will check out this site you gave me.

Are you seeing a psychiatrist or a PCP?  Your doctor should know if depakote is dangerous for the liver or harmful to you because of your hepititis.  Have you done any research on meds?  Here are a few sites to help you.  http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.drugs.html       http://www.crazymeds.org/lithium.html
