safe meds

I am 8 weeks pregnant. I have bipolar. I was on lexapro 10mg and seroquel 100mg. It worked so well for me. Well, now they have taken me off both. I am not happy, very stressed out and sleep all the time. It is effecting everything. Is there any safe med that I can take that will help me?

The only med I know for certain is safe during pregnancy is Prozac. I was on it while pregnant and did extensive research. There is about 30 years worth of data on Prozac and pregnancy.
That's the only one I know of for certain but I'm sure there are others. They don't want you passing your stress and anxiety to the baby, that much I do know.
Ask your ObGyn and pdoc then do a little research on your own and see what you can come up with.
I hope you find a solution!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy, but sorry your having to deal with these increased emotions during a time which should be so happy for you.  Hormones during pregnancy are enough on their own for sure.  I honestly have never had the experience of needing these meds during pregnancy so I don't really have an answer for you on that.  You should definately talk you dr. on how you are feeling. Your body/mood surely have some of these effects just for the fact that you no longer have these meds in your system right now.  The first trimester is such an important one for the health of your baby so most things (meds) are not recommended. However, once you reach second and third trimester it can be a different story.  Although this is a sad situation it's not ideal of course, but even moms with cancer can have certain types of chemo offered during the second and third trimester because most development is done by then.  Hopefully there may be something light that they can offer you once you reach that time.  Definately ask, because if that is possible maybe it will help you to know that you wont have to feel this way during the whole pregnancy.  Best Wishes to you and your little one!
