stopped bcp

Hi! My husband works overseas and he went home last November. 1st week of November I took my first set of birth control pills.  December 2 I took my second set of pills after that I got my period and didn't take the third set that's supposed to be on Dec 30. I didn't take it because he will be leaving on the 2nd of January. Dec 31, my period ended. We made love Jan 1 and 2. Would there be a big chance that I get pregnant although I am highly fertile on the 5-7 of January? I know sperm can stay inside the body for 72 hours and I read stories that there are instances that sperm can stay inside the body for 5-7 days. Thanks!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Any unprotected intercourse can result in pregnancy although chances are less in your case because you had intercourse after your periods. However to confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test. Also then I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing
