Copper IUD side effects

I had a copper iud put in a little over a year ago after my second child.  I experienced the side effects I was told could happen, worse cramps and heavier bleeding.  I am fine with these because my choice for birth control is very limited because I get blood clots and cannot take the pill.

However, I am wondering if anyone has experienced a decrease in thier sex drive becasue of it.  I am only 29 years old, married to a very wonderful and attractive man, but honestly I could care less about sex.  I have been this way ever since I had my last child, which is also when i got the iud.  I just assumed it was because I had children and was so busy with them (I have a 2 1/2 year old and one that is almost 1 1/2).  I am starting to think it could also have something to do with the iud.

I am considering getting it removed to see if this changes anything.  If anyone has experienced anything similiar to this I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

I have had my Paragard IUD in for about 10 months. Right when i got it inserted i knew I was in HELL. The insertion hurt as if having a child. And this is coming from a mother of 2. After, insertion i had my period for a str8 two months. And have only had two other periods which where a nightmare to say the least. Bled through a pad every 1hr. My attitude has changed ive noticed sad more often and get into crying spells for no reason at all. My DB has had to put up with the B in me. No weight gain just overall. Horrible cramping Horrific bleeding and overall mood change. My insurance just ran out need to reapply because i cant do this damn THING ANYMORE. getting it removed immediatly. Should have listened to my mother who had a horrible experience with the Paragard also.

I had the mirena in for a few months, i gained a stone, lost my sex drive completly, felt depressed and so they replaced it with the copper coil which i didn't feel depressed with but after having it for a couple of weeks my body pushed it out and i got pregnant with my 3rd child within 1 week of it coming out. At this point i think all contraceptives are evil, the implant being the most evil of them all because its turning me into a monster.

I have had the copper iud for nearly two months. Love having not to worry about taking a pill or anything like that and if anything my sex drive now exists where I have never felt like sex before. Im 23 and I have a two year old. I just get spot bleeding which is a bit if a hassel will this go away? I have also put on weight could this have to do with the iud?

PCOS is generaly not an aquired condition... and PCOS itself stops periods and causes weight gain.... if you dont have a period ever 3 months to reduce risks of cancer.. they can do this by giving you a couple high dose progestoron pills..... i do not think the iud has anything to do with the pcos.. i have had it my whole life... bc pills can regulate your periods but i find that they make me moody and depressed

Yes, that brown spotting was a constant for the entire two years I had the Copper IUD. It went away immediately when I had the device removed just over two months ago. My other symptoms are lessening, but some are gradual...my hair is still falling out (although less), my skin is still itchy and acne prone, and I am still fatigued and depressed (also less than before). I think it must take some time to recover, especially if you are prone to copper toxicity. I found a specialist that has emailed me a few times, and he advises a chelating of heavy metals to see improvement.

I am using condoms and spermicide, which is annoying, but far better than the side effects of the IUD. Not worth it.
