Does birth control always work? Here's why I ask....

OK. So this is the reason for my question...

I've been on birth control since December 2015, never ever missed a dose, only thing I've ever done was take it an hour or two late, nothing else. I've been really good with the placebo pills too, it's usually on schedule the week of placebo I would get my period like at the second placebo pill or at the latest, the third. I've never missed a period or was ever late or early, it was right on schedule like it's supposed to.

Anyway, June 12 I had unprotected sex, he pulled out-cool, no worries right? I was supposed to get my period at the end of the month, placebo week was supposed to start the 26th and end around the 2nd of July. So placebo week comes and it's already the third day-nothing. Thursday the 23rd however, which was 3 days earlier than usual, I started spotting, and it wasn't bright, it looked like my period usually looks. So I thought wait a minute, it's not even placebo week, but whatever, I guess I'm early. Nope, I was wrong. That same day, I had felt sick and nauseous and threw up once, and had to leave work early because of that. Not to mention I had a cluster headache. The next day, I noticed my spotting ("period") stopped and never came back, this never happens. So at this point I'm panicking because I never spot, I usually just get the full on period. Placebo week comes and the entire duration I don't get my period. So basically, I haven't had a period since May! So it's now July 11th. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago and it said "Not Pregnant"

But this Saturday the 9th, I did have unprotected sex and he pulled out but it was a little late so some did go inside... My worry now is that the first time he pulled out entirely and I had a scare! Imagine some actually going inside, I'm not sure, the waiting game is never fun because now I have to wait until the end of this month to see if I get my period or not. The reason I do have the scare, is because I did read that birth control is not as effective with women who are somewhat overweight, that's why I'm thinking maybe it doesn't really work on me? So the night I had sex this past Saturday I did take birth control but now I'm thinking will it actually work? Then I asked a few friends for advice and one of my friends said she had all of her 3 kids while she was taking oral birth control!

I had one of my son's on the DepoProvera shot as did a sister of mine.
Another sister got pregnant on the pill. Many people get pregnant even while taking the steps to not get pregnant.

With that being said though...Stressing over the situation can actually make u miss ur period or spot through one...Its possible that is what happened in your case. The nausea that early into things sounds like nerves unless you ate something that didn't agree with you. Getting 'morning sickness' usually happens when you KNOW you are pregnant :)

FYI I had another son (Mine are now all grown) on the 'pull out method'. So that method is no method at all. There is pre-ejaculate even before the finale so only an unbroken condom would help in that case.

NO birth control is 100% The only thing that is 100% is not having sex at all.

Btw another sibling of mine used 'the morning after pil' when she screwed up several years ago...I wont pretend to be perfect...most of us aren't...occasionally we do make poor choices that can result in pregnancy (some people even get stds from one 'lil mistake').

Hope this helps
