When I was 17 I was put on Diana 35 and then 3 months later I changed to Micrognon 30. I too got very ill and sick on them. Finally after 1,5 years of torturing my boyfriend and being an all round pain I decided to stop. I then developed Endometriosis and was prescribed Yasmin.
The first month was hell. I was nauseous most of the time, exhausted for no reason and I then started bleeding a week before the rest week. I called my doctor and talk to her co-worker (she was on vacation...not much of a help) and was told the bleeding is normal (not what I called for, I called for the sever cramping I had with the bleeding). He then charged me 20 bucks for the phone call that lasted 3 minutes (3:47 to be exact) helped nothing. I decided to give it another month to see if my body just needed more time. Well I am now on my second rest week and this month has been a dream. My energy has picked up, no bleeding or cramping at all. I am happy.
Out of experience I would say give it more time. For me it had to get all the scar tissue out and now I feel so much better. If you are still having these problems after your second month on the pill then I would call your doctor.
Thank you very much for the comments. I will wait it out bit longer and if it still is very heavy I'll go see my GP. If it's the lining then it should stop very soon. Thanks.
I was on Yaz and loved it. The first couple weeks I had on/off heavy bleeding. Then it stopped and at the end of my pack had my first period it was lighter and shorter than normal. After that my periods stayed light and short about 3 days in length and they were 7 days and very heavy when I didnt take it. In addition to the shorter lighter periods....it worked wonders on my PMS. Maybe your lining was just thick and it needed to thin out. I would wait it out and see what happens.
You might want to check it out with your doctor. Also, if you are too thin it might be a reason to as why your bleeding so much. It goes both ways. If your overwieght or underweight it can affect your body in a negative way. You shouldn't be bleeding for 2 weeks. I would really suggest to go into your GYN and ask if this is normal. When I started Yasmin in July 2007, I never had abnormal bleeding and always got my period when expected. Normally BCP needs about 1-3 months to regulate in your system. But your right, if your losing too much blood you could end up animic.
