Please put my mind at ease!

Hey there. I have been taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo birth control for about 3 months now. I have had a good percentage of the side effects...increased hunger, nausea, headaches, bloating, etc. But I also noticed that these match the symptoms of pregnancy. I have taken my pills every day (usually around 9:30pm, sometimes a little later in the night). And, the part I'm a bit embarrassed to admit/ask...I haven't had actual intercourse with my boyfriend, but he had fingered me and such...I don't think he's had any sperm on his hand while doing so, but I am so paranoid that it's not even funny. I should start my period within the next 2 or 3 days and I am praying i have it...it this just the side effects of the pills? Or symptoms of pregnancy? I need some reassuring!!! Thanks.

Birth control pills can cause many undesirable side effects. Most women will experience some of them while others might feel just fine. The fact is that BC pills are hormones and will affect your body especially during the first three months after you begin taking them. I honestly do not think that you are pregnant if you and your boyfriend haven't had sexual intercourse. Try to relax because the stress will also affect your body (headaches, missed period). If you want to make sure, wait until your period is due and take a pregnancy test to put your mind at ease. I hope this helps and if the side effects don't begin to improve then talk to your doctor about switching you to another one. The right BC is sometimes hard to find, I personally like the vaginal ring because you don't have to worry about taking it and side effects are minimal if any at all. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I would say, considering you have not had actual intercourse, that it is probably just the symptoms from the birth control!  I don't think that you could be pregnant just by him fingering you!  However, if you want to be 100% sure, you can always take a pregnancy test.  But, again, I don't think it's possible!  Good luck!
