Strange discharge?

Over the past three or four months I've been having strange discharge on occasion. For me, thick off white very slightly yellowish discharge is normal for me. Has been this way all my life. Recently it has been the same, but with the occasional clump of opaque thick off white mucus like material. It it's not fertile discharge in the least. It is entirely too clump like and not very stretchy, though it's obviously different from the regular sort I have. The only way I can explain it, grossly enough, is like something you'd cough up with a chest infection. I have also experienced minor cramping around the time this happens and it is always about 8-10 days into my cycle.I have been on birth control for several years. Last year i changed to necon 1/35 from the nuvaring wondering if that started it. Just last week i went back on nuvaring to see if this could be the case.I visited the doctor recently for my annual and forgot to mention the discharge (oops) but did tell him about the cramping, which he said did not raise any alarms. I went ahead and have him run an STI test on me just to check. Otherwise he said everything looked fine. There is no smell, and never any bleeding when this occurs. Has anyone had any similar experiences? Has anyone had changes in discharge due to BC? I keep convincing myself it's something terrifying and horrible.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The symptoms can be due to a yeast infection. Candida may involve the oral cavity (thrush), the pharynx or esophagus, the gastrointestinal tract, the urinary bladder, or the genitalia. The best tests involved in the diagnosis of candida are scrapping or swab examination of the scrapings after KOH mounting. The other test that can be done is fungal culture of the vaginal swabs.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
