Using birth control to skip period

Hi everyone--

I have read on numerous websites that using birth control to skip your period every once in a while is okay, and to do that you just skip the placebo pill week and immediately start taking a new pack of active pills.  I am going out of town this week and it would be extremely inconvenient for me to be on my period, even though this is the week I am supposed to have it.  I figured I would start taking my new pack today, HOWEVER, insurance won't cover my new pill pack for two more days, and I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for them when I can get them for free in 2 days.  I am going to have to wait to get my pills on Tuesday, and am supposed to start my period on Wednesday.  If I take placebo pills tonight, and tomorrow night, and THEN start taking my active pills Tuesday night, will this stop me from getting my period this week? Or will these two days of no active pills completely screw me up? Sorry this question was so long and detailed!! Any help would be appreciated, thanks! :)

Strange.  Are you able to get multiples at once?  I can get 4 pill packs at once for free.

Yes, I do get free birth control. However, it is only free after the 15th of each month.  That way, they aren't giving you multiple pill packs for free per month.  This just stinks that it is going to ruin my whole week.

Why won't they pay for it?  Via the "Affordable Healthcare Act," you get free birth control if you have insurance.  If you're that close to needing a new pack, it really shouldn't matter.

I would NOT resume taking the pack to skip your period if you must miss two days of pills.  You will very likely have very long breakthrough bleeding for longer than your period would last OR have sore boobs and a myriad of other period symptoms the entire next month.
