When does it take effect?

When does 'The pill' work so that you can have sex without a condom if you are NOT on your period or nearlly about to??? thanks x

Depends on the type of pill.  Most times, if you start on the first day of your period, you are protected after 7 full days of taking the pill each day.

As emi said, check the instructions for your particular pill, google it, call your pharmacist, or ask your doctor if you are not clear about this.

Remember that the pill will not protect you against STD's...you must use a condom for that, regardless of the type of BC you are on.

I think you are supposed to start taking the pill on the first day of your period. And then 2 weeks after that you should be safe from pregnancy. There should be instructions that come with your pill. Otherwise google the information about your specific pill. Or ask your doctor.
